Shaft Puring
Shaft puring is a process that identifies the most stable orientation of a shaft and aligns it so it flexes consistently during the swing.
Even high-quality shafts have slight manufacturing irregularities that cause them to bend more in one direction than another. Puring uses a machine to locate the shaft’s most stable axis, the position where it oscillates cleanly with minimal wobble, and marks that orientation for installation.
Fitters and builders use puring to reduce minor inconsistencies in feel and performance. When the shaft is installed in its most stable position, it tends to load and unload more uniformly, which can tighten dispersion and improve contact consistency. While the benefits are subtle, many golfers appreciate the added precision, especially in long clubs or full custom builds.
