Club Speed
Club Speed
Club speed is the measurement of how fast the clubhead is moving just before it contacts the ball.
It’s a key driver of ball speed and total distance, but it doesn’t tell the whole story on its own. Two golfers can have identical club speed and produce very different results depending on their contact quality, delivery, and equipment setup.
Fitters look at club speed to choose the right shaft weight, flex, and clubhead design.
The goal isn’t to chase more speed but to make sure the player gets the most out of the speed they already generate. A well-fit club helps turn club speed into efficient energy transfer, giving the golfer predictable launch and consistent yardage without forcing a different swing.
