Club Path

Club path describes the direction the clubhead is traveling through impact relative to the target line. It’s usually categorized as in-to-out, out-to-in, or neutral.

In-to-out paths tend to promote draws, while out-to-in paths promote fades or slices. The path doesn’t determine ball flight alone, but it works with face angle to shape the shot.

Fitters look at club path to understand why a golfer’s ball is curving the way it does and to choose equipment that supports a more consistent pattern. Path influences how certain shafts feel, how different clubhead designs perform, and whether lie angle adjustments can help straighten ball flight.

A predictable club path allows the fitter to match the golfer with gear that enhances their natural tendencies instead of fighting them.
