Center of Gravity (CG)
Center of gravity is the single point in the clubhead where its mass is balanced.
Its placement affects how easily the club launches the ball, how much it spins, and how stable the head is on off-center strikes.
A lower CG helps the ball launch higher with more forgiveness. A higher CG produces a lower, more penetrating flight with reduced spin.
Moving the CG toward the heel or toe also changes how the club resists twisting at impact.
Fitters use CG characteristics to match the player’s ball flight needs.
Golfers who need help getting the ball up may benefit from clubs with a low, deep CG. Players who generate too much spin might fit better into something with a more forward CG.
Understanding CG placement helps explain why different models feel and perform differently, and it guides the fitter toward a head that complements the golfer’s natural delivery.
