Carry Distance

Carry distance is the yardage the ball travels through the air before it lands.

It doesn’t include roll, so it’s the most reliable measure of how far a shot truly flies. Fitters focus on carry because it determines whether a golfer can clear hazards, reach par-5s in regulation, and maintain proper spacing between clubs.

During a fitting, carry distance is evaluated alongside launch angle, spin rate, ball speed, and descent angle.

If a golfer isn’t carrying the ball far enough, the fitter might adjust loft, shaft profile, or head design to improve launch and optimize spin.

When carry distance is predictable and consistent, the golfer can make better decisions on the course and trust how far each club will fly.
