Toe
The toe is the outermost end of the clubhead, farthest from the shaft. It plays a role in how the club feels and how the ball reacts when contact is made away from the center.
A strike on the toe usually leads to lower ball speed and can cause the ball to fade or lose distance. Many modern clubs add weight or use variable thickness in the toe area to help maintain stability and reduce the penalty on mishits.
Fitters watch toe strikes closely because they reveal patterns in a player’s setup, swing path, or club length. Frequent toe contact can signal that the club is too short, the lie angle is too upright, or the golfer is standing too far from the ball. Understanding these patterns helps dial in equipment that encourages more centered strikes and more predictable ball flight.
