Tip Stiffness

Tip Stiffness

Tip stiffness refers to how firm the lower section of the shaft is near the clubhead.

This part of the shaft has a strong influence on launch, spin, and how stable the club feels at impact. A stiffer tip keeps the ball flight lower and reduces spin, which can help players with faster swings or those who struggle with excessive height. A softer tip promotes easier launch and adds spin, which can help players who need more carry or who deliver the club with a smoother tempo.

Fitters look at tip stiffness to match a shaft to the player’s delivery. If shots are ballooning or spinning too much, a stiffer tip may help tighten the flight. If the ball isn’t launching high enough or feels hard to elevate, a softer tip can add needed lift.

Matching tip stiffness correctly helps the golfer produce a consistent, predictable trajectory without having to force changes in their swing.
