Torque

Torque measures how much a shaft twists during the swing, especially near impact.

It’s expressed in degrees, with lower numbers indicating less twisting and higher numbers allowing more.

A low-torque shaft feels tighter and more stable, which can help players with faster speeds or forceful transitions. A higher-torque shaft feels smoother and can make the club feel easier to square for players with moderate tempos.

Fitters look at torque to fine-tune feel and control. Too little torque can make the shaft feel harsh or unforgiving. Too much can lead to inconsistent face angles at impact. Matching torque to the golfer’s swing helps create a blend of stability, comfort, and predictable ball flight.
