Tungsten Weighting
Tungsten weighting refers to the use of tungsten material inside the clubhead to fine-tune its balance, stability, and performance.
Tungsten is much denser than steel, so small pieces add significant mass without increasing the head’s size. Manufacturers place tungsten low, deep, or toward specific areas of the head to increase forgiveness, raise or lower launch, or improve stability on off-center strikes.
Fitters pay attention to tungsten placement because it affects how easily a golfer can launch the ball and how stable the head feels through impact. Tungsten can help create higher moment of inertia (MOI), maintain ball speed on mishits, or position the center of gravity exactly where the design needs it.
Understanding tungsten weighting helps explain why different heads feel and perform differently and why certain models work better for specific swing types.
