MOI (Moment of Inertia)

MOI measures how resistant a clubhead is to twisting when the ball is struck away from the center of the face.

A higher MOI means the head stays more stable on mishits, preserving ball speed and keeping the shot closer to the intended line. Lower MOI allows for more workability but offers less forgiveness when contact isn’t perfect.

Fitters consider MOI to match forgiveness to the golfer’s needs. Players who want straighter, more predictable results often benefit from higher-MOI designs, especially in drivers and game-improvement irons. Players who prefer shaping shots may lean toward lower-MOI heads that respond more easily to subtle changes in delivery.

Matching MOI to the golfer’s skill level and tendencies helps create a set that performs consistently across a variety of swings.
