Loft/Lie Bending
Loft/lie bending is the process of adjusting a club’s loft or lie angle by physically bending the hosel.
Loft changes influence launch, spin, and how far the ball carries. Lie adjustments change how the sole sits at impact, which affects start direction and consistency. Even small changes can make a club perform noticeably better for a golfer’s swing.
Fitters use loft/lie bending to fine-tune a set after analyzing real ball-flight data. If shots are starting left or right, a lie adjustment may help. If gapping between clubs is uneven or launch height isn’t ideal, a loft tweak can fix it.
This process is common with irons and wedges, and most forged heads can be bent more easily than cast ones. Proper bending ensures each club matches the intended specs and performs predictably on the course.
