Offset
Offset
Offset refers to how far the leading edge of the clubface sits behind the front of the hosel.
When a club has more offset, the face is set slightly back from the shaft. This design gives the player a little extra time to square the face at impact, which can help reduce slices or weak fades. Offset is most common in game-improvement irons and some hybrids.
Fitters look at offset because it affects both ball flight and visual preference at address. Golfers who struggle to square the face may benefit from more offset. Players who tend to hook the ball or prefer a cleaner, more traditional look often choose less.
Matching the right amount of offset helps the golfer deliver the club more consistently and produce a predictable shot pattern.
