Taper Tip

A taper tip shaft is designed with a narrower diameter at the tip end, usually moving from a standard butt diameter down to a smaller, precise tip size such as 0.355 inches.

This design creates a snug, interference fit in the hosel of irons and wedges built for taper shafts. Because each shaft is manufactured to fit a specific club length without tip trimming, taper tips offer very consistent flex and feel from club to club.

Fitters and builders use taper tip shafts when they want tighter tolerances and more predictable performance. Since the tip isn’t trimmed, the shaft’s intended stiffness profile stays intact. Many players prefer the stability and feedback that taper tip shafts provide, especially in irons. The secure fit also helps maintain consistency in build quality, which supports more reliable ball flight throughout the set.
