Swing Weight

Swing Weight

Swing weight describes how heavy a club feels when you swing it, not how much the club actually weighs.

It reflects the balance between the head, shaft, and grip. A club with a heavier head feels “head-heavy,” while a club with more weight toward the grip feels lighter during the swing even if the total weight is the same.

Swing weight affects tempo, timing, and how easily a golfer can square the face.

Fitters adjust swing weight to match the golfer’s strength, tempo, and preferred feel. Too light, and the club can feel hard to control. Too heavy, and it can slow down the swing or disrupt rhythm.

Changes in shaft length, grip size, and head weight all influence swing weight, so it’s one of the final details checked during a custom build. When swing weight is dialed in, the club feels more natural and helps the golfer return the head to the ball consistently.
