Hot Melt

Hot melt is an internal adhesive material used to fine-tune the sound, feel, and weight distribution inside metalwood heads.

Builders inject it through a small port to add weight exactly where they want it, usually low, forward, back, or toward the heel or toe. Because hot melt is dense and can be placed precisely, it’s a clean way to adjust swing weight or tweak the center of gravity without adding visible weights to the exterior.

Fitters and builders also use hot melt to soften or deepen the sound of a driver or fairway wood. Some golfers prefer a muted, solid feel at impact, and hot melt can help achieve that without affecting performance when applied carefully. When done properly, it’s a subtle but effective tool for dialing in both feel and performance on a tour-level or custom build.
