Inverted Cone Technology

Inverted Cone Technology (ICT), developed by TaylorMade Golf, is a face-design method used primarily in metalwoods and some irons to expand the effective sweet spot.

Instead of having uniform face thickness, the inside of the face is shaped like an inverted cone, thinner in specific zones and thicker in others. This design helps maintain ball speed when the strike is off center, especially toward the heel or toe.

Fitters acknowledge ICT because it directly affects forgiveness and consistency. When a club keeps more ball speed on mishits, distance loss is reduced and dispersion tightens. Players who don’t always hit the center of the face benefit the most.

ICT is one of the reasons modern drivers and fairway woods feel more stable and produce competitive ball speed even on imperfect contact.
