Lead Tape

Lead tape is a thin, adhesive strip used to add small amounts of weight to specific areas of a clubhead or shaft.

Builders apply it to fine-tune swing weight, alter feel, or make small changes to ball flight. A few grams on the head can make the club feel more stable, while placing tape on the shaft can slightly change balance. Because it’s easy to apply and remove, lead tape is a simple way to experiment without rebuilding the club.

Fitters use lead tape to make quick adjustments during a fitting session. Adding weight to the toe can help reduce a hook. Adding weight to the heel can make it easier to square the face. Weight low on the head can encourage higher launch, while weight high can slightly lower flight.

It’s not a replacement for full internal weighting or hot melt, but it’s an effective way to test changes and dial in feel and performance on the spot.
